On this Saturday (November 2nd) the results would not be what the Girls had wanted. Hoping to qualify for the IHSA State XC Championship for the second straight year, the Girls ended up 7th out of 19 teams but needed to be one of Top 5 teams to advance. All 6 of the teams in front of the Girls were ranked in the Class 1A State Top 25 rankings. On a sloppy course due to the rain and snow earlier in the week, Olivia Frail (34th - 21:38) ended her High School XC career crossing the finish line first for the Girls. Ashley Orrick (38th - 21:43) was in close pursuit followed by team scorers Paige Rewerts (70th - 22:57), Josie Price (73rd - 22:59) in her last High School XC race and Alyssa Dyken (83rd - 23:27). Rounding out the Girls line-up were Trinity Shimmin (93rd - 23:49) and Lena Becker (95th - 23:55). Olivia and Josie have been a part of all 4 Sectional qualifying teams and will be missed immensely for their leadership and hard work. Head Coach Bob Rennick has a lot to look forward to with potential returners in Juniors Alyssa, Lena, Trinity and Sarah Fairfield plus the Sophomore Orrick sister Ashley and Emily and Freshman Paige Rewerts. With continued hard work, these Girls have the potential to keep the Rebel Tradition going.
